• The “National Readings” of 2021 in Kharkiv took place at S. Kuznets KhNUE

    On September 4, the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics hosted the “National Readings”, which the university organized jointly with the Polish Cultural and Educational Center “Dzhevo”.

    “National Readings” is a Polish social campaign that promotes knowledge of Polish national literature, in which large fragments of works are read in public. The event is held under the patronage of Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife. Polonian organizations from all over the world are taking part in the action. The “National Readings” have been held annually since 2012, and this is the tenth time this year.

    The event was attended by participants of Polish language and culture centers, university teachers and students, teachers and students of Polish language courses, graduates and participants of Polish scholarship programs, academic exchange programs, joint Polish-Ukrainian diploma programs – all who love and appreciate the Polish language.

    Vice-rector of the University Volodymyr Yermachenko addressed the participants of the event with welcoming words, noting that the university’s involvement in the action will contribute to the cultural enrichment of the participants of the joint programs.

    Special guest – Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv, Head of the Department of Polonia, Legal Affairs and Consular Assistance Mr. Michał Banasz greeted the participants and read an invitation letter from the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.

    The head of the Polish cultural and educational center “Dzhevo” Margarita Kondratenko noted that the “National Readings”, in which the center is participating for the third year, is a great opportunity to get acquainted not only with the work and the author, but also to encourage participants to read and get acquainted. Polish literature and enrich language skills. Margarita Kondratenko told biography of the author Gabriela Zapolska, and Olena Rakovska told about the production of drama in theatre and cinema.

    Gabriela Zapolska’s play “Morality of Mrs. Dulska” was written more than a hundred years ago, but it is still relevant, it condemns hypocrisy and lies.

    During the readings, individual fragments of the drama were presented, in which the participants not only read the roles but also showed their acting abilities. Cast: Olena Kutia, Rustam Urdukhanov, Anna Filipova, Valeria Charchenko, Mykola Kondratenko, director – Margarita Kondratenko (Polish Cultural and Educational Center “Dzhevo”); Ilya Polyakov-Vlasenko, Anna Ivanova, Iryna Ivanova, Lyudmyla Hrynevych, director – Iryna Bryzhata (Kharkiv National Economic University named after Semyon Kuznets).

    At the end of the readings, participants received certificates and thanks from the Semyon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics and the Polish Cultural and Educational Center “Dzhevo”.
