On September 21, 2021, Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics was visited by representatives of the European Union, including Lukas Mandl (Member of the European Parliament), Secretary-General of the Assembly of the European Regions and Dr. Brigitta Triebel, director of the Kharkiv office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
During the visit, a lecture-discussion was held with students on “The European Union: structure, foreign policy, international cooperation with Ukraine.”
Lukas Mandl emphasized the key pillars on which the EU is founded: equality, freedom, the future, dialogue in decision-making. He also told students about the structure of the EU, the main functions and activities of European institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, European Council) and the values they uphold.
Also, Ms. Dr. Brigitta Triebel told the students about the grant programs of the international mobility program for the development of political education, European integration. Christian Spahr shared with students the intricacies of successful regional policy implemented in the European Union.
Students were actively interested in questions about EU programs aimed at developing the next generation.
Lukas Mandl, a Member of the European Parliament, left an entry in the book of honorary guests of the university and stressed the need to deepen cooperation between KhNEU. S. Kuznets and the EU.
