The department was founded in 1930. The department is part of the International economic relations faculty. In 2018 it was reorganized into pedagogic, foreign philology and translation department. Since 2015 it provides training in the following specialities: “Educational institutions management”, “Higher school pedagogics” and “Foreign languages”. It ensures the formation of competencies related to management in pedagogics, foreign languages, theory and practice of translation and other specialities. The main object of the department is the development of high pedagogic, linguistic and professional training level of students, their scientific outlook formation, opening wide horizons in social, professional and cultural areas.
Areas of specialists training
The subject area of pedagogical and methodological work of the department is associated with pedagogic skills, management and foreign languages teaching of all specialities and forms of education. The teachers of the department work at “Economics and Law”, “Economic informatics”, “Management and Marketing”, “Consulting and International Business”, “Finance” and «International economic relations» faculties. At present 62 highly experienced teachers in the field of educational institutions management, higher school education and foreign languages work at the department. Among them there are 2 professors, 21 PhD lecturers and 19 senior lecturers.
The department provides training of the following disciplines: pedagogics; management of education and training; information relations management; theory and practice of higher education; the financial, economic and legal aspects of educational institutions management; administrative psychology; theory and practice of higher education; international economic relations; foreign languages (English, German, French, etc.); foreign languages of academic and special purposes; business foreign languages; in – depth (intensive) study of foreign languages for special and academic purposes, theory and practice of translation and foreign language of professional communication in international business.
The educational and professional program “Foreign languages of business communication» is selective one. The training is carried out according to the appropriate Master program.

The aim of this Master program is to take Master’s degree in educational institutions management. After carrying out the program, the graduates receive enterprise, institution and organization managers (in the field of education and job training) qualification.

Master program characteristics and competitive advantages include the ability of Simon Kuznets KNUE to provide professional masters training which is strongly based on understanding of economic processes and phenomena, classical and modern management approaches, financial management, information and communication technologies, business foreign languages and foreign languages for special and academic purposes, professional competence development in order to meet modern standards of information-oriented society and economics.
The aim of this Master program is training higher school education teachers. After carrying out the program the graduates receive a teacher of universities and higher educational establishment qualification.

The teachers of the department are constantly improving their skills; the department educational process is fully provided with interactive disciplines complex, so that students are able to get full methodological maintenance of their disciplines in electronic form, in order to save time and improve the efficiency of self-development work.
In 2017-2018 the department of pedagogics and foreign Philology actively participated in the project under the auspices of the European Center of Foreign Languages and Kharkiv regional state administration support. It was aimed to activate the English language study. The department was also offered to conduct the intensive course of English language for different employees’ categories (based on Simon Kuznets KNUE). The department was awarded by Kharkiv regional state administration diploma for this work.

Business English Certificate
Department of pedagogic and a foreign philology provides preparation and drafting of the Cambridge Business English BEC (Business English Certificate, Cambridge) exam to determine proficiency in business English according to international standards.
Business English Certificates (BEC) is Cambridge exam on Business English knowledge. The exam is designed for those who are working or going to work in the field of international business. The exam assesses the ability to use English language in the context of international business, as well as the candidate ability to communicate in English at a certain level with colleagues and clients. The exam tests practical language skills in real work situations, but it does not require any special knowledge in business. It includes tests of three different difficulty levels: BEC Preliminary, BEC Vantage, BEC Higher.
International seminars and programs
The department provides foreign languages training on the basis of the following programs:
Mutual French – Ukrainian Master Program MBA on «Economic informatics » (Lyons -2);
Mutual French – Ukrainian Master Program MBA on «Tourism» (Lyons -2);
Mutual Austria and Ukraine «Business Administration» Master program which is held on the basis of Vienna University of applied sciences.
The department of pedagogics, foreign philology and translation takes part in the international seminars of the “Erasmus” program, which have been held in Finland since 2017.
In 2017 the head of the department prof. Borova Tatyana Anatolievna attended the international seminar “ICT Education for Science and Technology”, which took place on the basis of “A.OFRI” International Training MASHAV educational center under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem.
On March, 2018 Simon Kuznets KNUE carried out International scientific-practical conference “Modern problems of enterprise management: theory and practice”, which was participated by the representatives of Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Sweden and Montenegro
Our students
Our students are regular participants of students’ scientific conferences and language summer schools, disputes, discussions, out-of-class activities and meetings with native speakers. They are published their works in youth scientific periodicals, take part in Round tables, organized in the frame of international conferences. Our department gives students opportunities to realize their best ideas by means of Olympics, project works and diploma papers competitions. Our students are winners of the all-Ukrainian, regional and University students’ Olympics ; organizers and participants of the scientific, publicistic and fiction literature competitions in translation. Organizers and participants of the debates, discussions and activities with native speakers and extracurricular activities in foreign languages.
Membership in pofessional Associations
The teachers of Pedagogic, foreign philology and translation department take an active part in different international associations such as «Association of Germanists of Ukraine», «British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies», «International Cognitive Linguistic Association».
